My name is Rob Dreyer. I am a builder by trade, living amongst family and friends in Byron Bay, on the North Coast of NSW.

On the first of August this year I am walking solo and unassisted across the Simpson Desert formally known as The Arunta.
I will walk West to East following the footsteps of explorer Cecil B. Madigan. This route will cover approximately 750 kms and 1050 sand dunes, terminating at Birdsville about 35 days later. This track has never been crossed in this way  before.

I see a solo unassisted crossing of the Madigan line as one of the last great treks of the Simpson that has yet to be attempted. Turning 60 years old on the 20th August, in the midst of my journey, will make me the oldest White Australian to have ever walked the Simpson Desert solo and unassisted.

Though urbanised, the average Australian has a great desire for adventure. Traversing new frontiers resonates deep within our psyche. As an older person, I will be exemplifying that regardless of age all of us are still capable of living out our dreams and taking on new and challenging ventures; of overcoming fear and pushing ahead regardless.

I am passionate about helping others and take great pride in raising awareness and much needed funding for The Chrysalis Girls Program . I hope to help generate $20 000 in funding for adolescent girls in need.
